Pastor Simon Longfield, some of his family members, and a number of visitors from North Island New Zealand, were able to make the Fijian Easter camp this year.
Before the camp began, local "tribes-folk" were in attendance at the official "land transfer" ceremony that preceded the opening of the RCI Sigatoka hall on the outskirts of Sigatoka. This turned into a great outreach!
Steeped in local custom, fifteen acres of land were "gifted" to Pastor Apenisa and the local RCI Centre. The ceremony included a guard of honour, the passing of the whales-tooth, and speeches that portrayed the significance of such an event. Then the hall was opened with the traditional cutting of the ribbon.
The camp included a great time of fellowship, dining, singing, ministry, and of course plenty of time to relax... after all this is Fiji!
Tropical sunny days, warm waters, balmy nights, delightful fellowship, and a good number of baptisms (at least a dozen), made for a truly wonderful visit.
Let's keep our Fijian buddies in our prayers. Bula! from Pastor Simon
